Create Repository (Web UI)

To quickly create a Repository press the + followed by New Repository.  Set the settings you want and press Create Repository.

After the Repository has been created the Quick Guide will give us an URL that we can use to Clone the Repository locally.

Create Access Token

Authentication over SSH using SSH Keys is currently not available. Only Authentication over HTTPS works.

For us to authenticate over HTTPS (when 2FA is enabled) we need an Access Token. To create one, go to Settings under your profile and go to Applications. Here we can set a Token Name. In this example I enabled Read and Write permissions for the Repositories owned by this account as well as Read and Write for Packages to be able to push and pull Images.

Click Generate Token. This token will only be shown once. Make sure to store it in your favorite password manager ;)

Use Repository with Access Token (IDE)

To Clone your new Repository to work in it locally press on Code and Copy the URL while being in the Repository.

Clone the Repository to wherever you prefer.

Since this is Public Repository we will not be prompted for credentials when Cloning or Pulling the Repository.

When Pushing we will be prompted for credentials. Fill in your Username and the Token you just created as Password.

Push and Pull (Container) Images

For instructions on how to handle all kinds of packages in Gitea please check the Gitea Official Documentation

The following Push command will push the Image to Users Packages. You can also push to `URL/<USERNAME>/<REPOSITORY>`

After pushing your Image will show under Packages in your Repository. This also shows how you can Pull the Image again (after authenticating using docker/podman login)

 

Build pipelines

!The TODOability to run pipelines (Gitea Runners) for the Shared Platform will be made available at a later stage. For now you are able to BYOR.
